Santa's Helper by Tim Holtz - bokeh background

Our October challenge at the Country View Challenges is Bokeh and I have to tell you frankly that I had to google the word bokeh when I heard that this could be the name our October challenge. I had no idea what it meant!

After seeing many definitions and many images of bokeh, I have created this:

For this I created a blue background with Ranger Distress inks (Faded Jeans, Chipped Saphire), then I sponged Faded Jeans and Picket Fence Ranger Distress Oxide inks through a handmade stencil. I blended the Faded Jeans DOX through the biggest circle and the Picket Fence though the smaller ones.

I took a quite thick plastique sheet and cut out circles in different sizes with Sizzix Circle dies.

When it was finished I sprayed it with a fixative.

Then I cut out Santa's Helper from black cardstock and I adhered to my card.

What I used:

Sizzix Thinlits die, Santa's Helper by Tim Holtz (664192)

Sizzix Thinlits die, Script Holiday Words by Tim Holtz

Sizzix Framelits die, Circles (657551)

Ranger Distress ink pads (Faded Jeans, Chipped Saphire)

Ranger Distress Oxide ink pads (Picket Fence, Faded Jeans)

Idea-Ology, Metallic Kraft Paper Stash

black cardstock

fixative

So if you like the bokeh technique, please do join our October challenge where you can win a £20 voucher of the Country View Challenges.

With my card, I would like to join the:

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Let's get ready for Christmas
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Anything goes

  2. Very effective Bokeh with the Picket Fence and the Distress Oxides, it gives the impression of distance between the circles. A great design for Christmas too!
