Birthday card with Rupert, the dragon

Here is a birthday card that I made for a one year old little boy, William. One of his family members asked me to make a card for him. Since this family member liked my previous card with Rupert, she wanted to have him on William's card. But she asked one more thing, to have a Scottish background, because William is a Scottish little boy.

As you can see I chose a Scottish tartan paper for the background. I have found it in "A Christmas Story" 8x8" paper pad by First Edition. Unfortunately, this paper pad is discontinued.

Rupert was made exactly the same way like my earlier card. There you can find the tutorial.

For the William strip, I used the My Favorite Things Bitty Banner Alphabet dies. With this I got the perfect size letters.

The strip was coloured with Squeezed Lemonade and Mustard seed at the edges, just like the balloon.

For the hat and the gift box, I used yellow and purple cardstocks.

For the Happy Birthday text, I used again a My Favourite Things product, the Bitty Birthday Wishes. And it was heat embossed with white embossing powder on black cardstock.

What I used:

Sizzix Thinlits die, Rupert Colorize (665361)

Sizzix Thinlits die, Mini Christmas Things (662418)

Sizzix Thinlits die, Celebrate Colorize (666285)

Sizzix Sidekick, Birthday Side-Order (662703)

Sizzix Bigz die, Crescent Moon&Stars (658716)

MFT, Bitty Birthday Wishes stamp set

MFT, Bitty Banner Alphabet Die-Namics

First Edition paper pad, A Christmas Story 8x8"

Ranger Distress ink pads (Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed)

Ranger embossing powder, White Super Fine

etc.

Birthday card with Rupert by Tim Holtz

Hello everyone, I'm back from a long holiday and here is my first project. I made a birthday card with Rupert, the dragon. I have had this die set  for a while but it remained untouched. Now I thought he deserved a birthday card.

I cut out all the main elements of Rupert from white watercolour paper then I painted with acrylic paints. Here you can see the DecoArt paints I used. Then I added pearls shine to the cutouts (DecoArt Rayher Perlschimmer). For the eyes, I used Nuvo Black Crystal Drops.

I found the hat die in a Sidekick Side-Order set, called Birthday. The birthday gift is from a Sizzix Christmas set and I had to cut it a little smaller. And the balloon was in the Circle Play die set. I cut out the elements from yellow and purple papers. The balloon is attached to Rupert's tail with a thread.

My goal was to give a background to Rupert which will emphasise him. So in the end I decided to choose a white background with embossed roses on it. And why roses? Because in Hungary there is a famous dragon, Süsü who's best friend is the little prince and who wanted to be a rosebud because then the butterflies would fly on him. He adored the butterflies. He was a very gentle dragon and I assume Rupert is a kind spirit too.

The text is from one of my favourite stamp sets, because I use the Crazy Talk a lot. I stamped the texts on black card with embossing ink, then I heat embossed with Super Fine white embossing powder. Don't forget to use the Ranger Anti-Static pouch!

What I used:

Sizzix Thinlits die, Rupert Colorize  (665361)

Sizzix Thinlits die, Mini Christmas Things (662418)

Sizzix Sidekick Side-Order die, Birthday (662703)

Sizzix Thinlits die, Circle Play (663868)

Stampers Anonymous, Roses stencil (THS075)

Stampers Anonymous, Crazy Talk (CMS236)

Ranger embossing powder (Weathered White, White Super Fine)

DecoArt Americana paints (Forest Green, Sea Aqua, Foliage Green)

With this card, I would like to join the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Mixed Media

Bookmark with a dragon

Yesterday I could find some time to go to my craft room, a little me time. I really don't want to complain because in one hand I enjoy that my family is at home but I have more work to serve them, to feed them constantly and to be a teacher, a tutor for my daughter.

So here is my bookmark.

I cut out a tag with the MFT Die-Namics Stitched Traditional Tags. I used the biggest one. Then I coloured the background with Ranger Distress inks and Distress Oxide inks. Then I spattered the sky part with diluted white acrylic paint.

I stamped the branch from the MFT Owlways stamp set with Ranger Archival Jet Black ink, then I coloured with Ranger Distress markers.

The dragon is part of the Birdie Brown Magical Dragons stamp set and was stamped on Neenah Solar White Paper with MFT Chocolate Hybrid ink. Then I coloured with Copic Sketch markers. I fussy cut the image and glued on the tag.

With my tag, I would like to join the MFT current sketch challenge, the Wednesday Sketch Challenge 488.

I hope you like it!!! Thank you for stopping by!!!

Card with MFT Viking and dragon

I've already made this scene twice (or at least nearly the same). Once on a card and once on a box. But on the card, I coloured the images with watercolour technique and on the box, I painted them with acrylic paints.

Right now, at this card, I used my Copic Sketch markers and I left the text.

And since the Creative Olympics is still live on the MFT blog, I would like to join the Stamping Slalom where the crafters have to use at least three different stamp sets from the MFT.

What I used:

MFT, BB Viking

MFT, Town Bear - the trees

MFT, BB Magical Dragons

Die-Namics, A2 Stitched Rectangles, Stax 1

Die-Namics, Snow Drifts

Copic Sketch markers - for the images

Ranger Distress inks - for the background

Wooden box with Viking and dragon

It was quite challenging to make this box.

Here are some pictures of the making:

I stamped with Ranger Distress Black Soot ink and then heat embossed with Ranger clear embossing powder.

For the scene building and the colouring, I used this card as a sample

I put two layers of silky shine varnish on the top and one layer on the bottom for protection.

Now I think this box will be perfect for a little boy to hide his little bits and bobs in it.

Birthday card with a Viking and a dragon

Now, this is supposed to be a scene from the movie, How to train your dragon (LOL). When Stoick the Viking chief is ready to fight with a dragon but unfortunately it seems too cute to fight with. And anyway, Hiccup wouldn't agree too.

For this card, I used the following MFT stamps and dies:

MFT, BB Viking

MFT Town Bear stamp set

MFT BB, Magical Dragons stamp set

MFT More Essentials Sentiments stamp set

MFT Die-Namics, A2 Stitched Rectangles, STAX 1

MFT Die-Namics, Slanted Sentiments Strips (but I cut off the edges)

I coloured my images with Zig Clean and Ranger Distress markers.

Little hanging with dragon and princess

When my daughter saw the little dragon card what I made for my nephew's birthday, first she wanted to keep it, but then she let me do another one just for her :-)

So she chose a bigger dragon and a little princess from the MFT Magical Dragon stamp set... and after a little discussion, I recommended her a little hanging instead of a card. She accepted it.

Here is a close-up:

Luckily she liked it and now this little image is on the wall of her room.

The other MFT stamp set that I used is: Fairy Happy

And with this card I would like to join the Color Challenge 80 of the MFT Card Challenges blog.

Birthday card with a little dragon

Now this card is for my other nephew, the younger one. It was him who chose the little dragon from the MFT Magical Dragons stamp set. So I decided to put this little dragon on a cloud and therefore I used the Die-Namics Puffy Clouds set.

I also used an old stamp set from the MFT, the Label Maker Sentiments.
