For our August challenge - Sun, sea and sand - I created a card with Tim Holtz Sea Life stamps.
Before creating the background I looked many underwater photos and I liked most where the sunbeams penetrated the water.
My other inspiration was my earlier card with the Sea Life stamp set where I put a crown on the head of one of the fish.
Here, in this picture below, you can see how I created the background. I used DecoArt colours (Sea Aqua, Wedgewood Blue) and then Amsterdam white paint to make the sunrays. For this, I used Tim Holtz Rays layering stencil.
I cut out the seaweeds from green cardstocks, using Sizzix Thinlits dies by Tim Holtz: Garden Greens, Funky Florals 1. I inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress ink.
After glueing the seaweeds, I put Ranger Distress Grit-Paste to the bottom with a palette knife.
When the paste was dry, I coloured it with DecoArt Americana Multi-Surface Buff Beige paint.
I inked the card edges with Vintage Photo.
I put a layer of Schmincke Fluid Medium. It gave a silky shine finish for the surface.
I stamped the fish (Sea Life) onto watercolour paper with Ranger Archival Jet Black ink and coloured with Distress markers. In the end, I put a layer of Schmincke Fluid Medium on the fish.
The text (Hashtags by Tim Holtz) was stamped with Ranger Archival Potting Soil ink.
And although I had lots of art pebbles, pearls, tiny shells... I decided to put only one mini pearl to only one corner because sometimes less is more!
