Birthday card with Gladys - You are a star

Hello everyone, I'm here with a card that I made for my friend who likes to sing and who still improves her voice. Actually, it's her birthday card because she is a real star.

First, I took a watercolour paper and I started to blend different blue and turquoise colours using Distress inks. I started with Tumbled Glass, then Broken China and Peacock Feathers. In the end I added Uncharted Mariner to the edges. 

The pieces of Gladys were cut out from white watercolour paper too and I painted them with Distress paints like Saltwater Taffy, Spun Sugar and Scattered Straw.  

The curtain is an MFT (Die-Namics) die, called Take The Stage. I cut the pieces from watercolour paper and coloured with Distress inks: Mustard Seed, Fossilized Amber, Wild Honey.

The text also from MFT, the name of the stamp set is: Friendship Rocks. I heat embossed with a gold embossing powder from the Ranger Ink.  

I coloured a piece of paper with gold paint and when it was dry I cut out a few tiny stars to decorate the background with them. I think I used the MFT (Die-Namics) Stars In The Sky background die.

Happy New Year everyone!!! I hope 2023 will be your best year! 

It's not just the first day of a new year but a new month, so we started a new challenge over at the Country View Challenges. The theme is Time and my lovely teamie, Evelyn will be your hostess.

For this challenge I created a card that can be used for any celebration, new year, birthday, whatever. I chose Gladys as the main character because she seems a real party animal for me. She looks so cheerful. 

I cut out a square panel and painted blue - I'm sorry, I have no idea which paint I chose from DecoArt. Then I stamped the text (Reflections) here and there with Vintage Photo Archival ink. I toned back the blue paint and the text with white paint. I also spattered the background with white paint. When it was dry, I added diluted Pumice Stone here and there too. The edge was inked with Hickory Smoke Archival ink first, then I added a little Grounded Espresso. 

Gladys was coloured with the following colours: Abandoned Coral, Saltwater Taffy, Kitsch Flamingo, Black Soot, Pumice Stone.

The clock was coloured gold with Schmincke Rich Gold paint. For the snowflakes and the gold underlayer panel, I used Metallic Kraft paper.

Gladys by Tim Holtz with moon and stars

Hello everyone, I'm here with my second project for our June challenge over at the Country View Challenges. The theme is Seeing Stars. 

And the main character of my card, the star is the wonderful Gladys herself :-) I wanted a simple, not too cluttered background to highlight Gladys.

For the background, I cut out a rectangle panel from 300 gsm watercolour paper and I sticked the moon mask to the paper. I started to blend Distress Oxide inks (Salvaged Patina, Prize Ribbon, Chipped Sapphire, Ground Espresso), then I finished with the original Distress inks (Chipped Sapphire, Black Soot, Ground Espresso).

I covered the ground part of my card and I spattered with gold acrylic paint the sky.

Next step was to make the moon. For this, I used the moon stencil and Distress Oxide inks (Antique Linen, Hickory Smoke).

I also added Resist Spray to the moon to make it a little shiny but I didn't spritz directly to the moon. First I put a little amount to a plastic sheet, then I dabbed the liquid with a sponge onto the surface.

I also spritzed with water the card but just slightly.

I coloured a piece of watercolour paper with the same gold paint I used for the spattering. When it was dry, I cut out the tiny stars. 

Gladys was painted with Distress paints, just like this card.

Paradise found - card with Gladys by Tim Holtz

A few days ago I showed you my card with Gladys. But then I assembled another Gladys and she needed a card too. I just finished it.

In my previous card I coloured everything (except the background) with Distress paints, here I used ink (Oxide and original) for everything.

The idea of Gladys standing in a little pond came from Tim. It was him who told in the Sizzix Chapter 1 video that we can use the grassy hill form the Papercut Chicks die set as a pond. 

So I cut them out from 300gsm watercolour paper, then cut off the grasses and coloured with different Oxide inks.

The background was made with Bundled Sage and Speckled Egg.

Gladys by Sizzix Tim Holtz

Hello everyone, here is my first Gladys card with the adorable flamingo of Sizzix Chapter 1. This is a Colorize die which means you have to put many layers on top of each other to assemble the bird. Well this is my version with this new die.

And here is my tutorial. First about the background.

I cut out a slimline card from 300gsm watercolour paper. Then I blended different Oxide ink colours to create the background with the sky, sea and sand. For making the sun, I cut out a circle and used it as a mask when I was making the sky. 

Then I covered the top part and splattered the sand with diluted brown acrylic paint.

I inked the edges with Gathered Twigs Distress ink.

Then a splattered the whole background (except the sun) with white acrylic paint.

As for the flamingo... I cut out all parts from 300 gsm watercolour paper and painted them with Distress paints.

The first layer with Abandoned Coral.

The second layer with Kitsch Flamingo with a tiny Abandoned Coral.

The wing, the crest and the pink part of the beak were painted with only Kitsch Flamingo. The legs and the eyelashes with Pumice Stone.

For the palm tree I used Mowed Lawn and Frayed Burlap but I inked the edges with Potting Soil Archival ink.
