Angel Christmas ornament with a Sizzix die

A few days ago I posted here, on my blog a card with an angel. And because I really liked how that angel turned out I wanted to have one on my Christmas tree.

If you click on my earlier blogpost you will find the tutorial of the angel. Here I just write down what I made differently.

Since it's an ornament, I wanted to give it a little dimension, and both sides needed to be done, to be covered with glitter paper.

To have a little dimension, I cut out the angel twice from chipboard and I glued them together. The die I used was a Sizzix Bigz die, Angelic by Tim Holtz. Then I added the glitter paper on the top. Both sides, of course.

Since it was dimensional I had to take care of the edges, so I painted the edges with similar colours. With turquoise the edges of the dress, with silver the edges of the wing, with gold the edges of the trumpet etc.

Then I inked the edges with Ground Espresso Archival ink. And in the end I put Marabu Glitter Liner to the edges with matching colours.

Christmas card with angel

Hello everyone, here is my second Christmas card with a Hungarian text. "Mennyből az angyal" is another Hungarian Christmas song that I really like. It means: the angel from heaven. For this card, I used old dies and an old stencil. 

Now let's see how I made it. 

First I cut out the window from chipboard with the Sizzix Cathedral Frame Bigz die. Then I drew the outlines of the window on a blue paper.

I cut out the window from the blue paper. And since this blue wasn't enough dark for a night sky I blended Chipped Sapphire ink to the surface and Black Soot to the edges.

Then I spattered the window background with gold paint.

I glued the background to the window frame. Then I continued with the angel. I cut it out from a white cardstock, then I cut out the clothes, the trumpet, the wing from different glitter papers.

I also drew the hair and coloured the face. I inked the edges of the glittery parts with dark brown ink, then I glued to the white paper angel.

Then I took a dark grey cardstock and drew the outline of the window.

Then I masked the window with Tesa masking tape.

Then I made the walls using Grit Paste and wall stencil.

When I was ready with the stencilling I let the panel dry. Then I painted grey the bricks.

I chose a black paper to place it behind the wall panel.

I started to glue everything in place. Then I realised that I need something to the left top corner. So I chose the Sizzix Deck The Halls dies to cut out the holly leaves. For the greens I used green glitters papers. 

I splattered the leaves with white paint and I placed three pearls from the Baubles Findings Idea-ology set to the top of the greens.

Bookmark with an angel

We are so lucky that we are surrounded by angels who hear our wishes and make them real. 

My beautiful angel is flying above the houses, in the sky and listening. So you can make a wish or two.

Christmas card with a little boy, a Christmas tree and an angel #2

Here is the pair of my earlier card. This one is for my other nephew, for the blond one.

I did some minor alterations from the earlier one because the boys insist on equality in every way :-)

There's only one difference, here I used the MFT Snow Globe Sentiments stamp set and left out the Make Yourself At Home stamp set.

Vintage Hungarian Christmas cards #58

This beautiful vintage card was posted in 1913. It's a real photograph where some parts of the photo was hand-coloured in order to enhance the significant parts like here Santa's and the angel's robe and the toys.

I'm ready with the Christmas card for one of my nephews. My nephew, Zsiga, has brown hair, has a brown dog, a grey cat and in his family, the Angels bring the Christmas presents. I also wanted to imitate the tile floor in their living room :-)

Now, I have to finish my other nephew's card.

Mixed media canvas with angels

Glory to God in the highest, and peace on earth to people who enjoy his favour!

This is my mixed media canvas with a winter scene where two angels arrived to proclaim the birth of the little Jesus. For making this scene I used two Sizzix dies, one from Tim Holtz and the other from Brenda Walton.

I had the honour that I could be the guest designer at A Vintage Journey in August when the challenge theme is: Things with Wings. When I heard the theme I was very happy because I have many dies and stamps from Tim Holtz's butterfly and bird collections. But in the end I chose Tim's Layered Angel Wings instead of the birds and butterflies.

I created this canvas into my daughter’s room. I wanted to make a clean and quite simple canvas with a comforting sentence for a girl with vivid fantasy. "The angels are watching over you."

For making this I got a stretched and primed 24x30 cm canvas and I put one layer of gesso on it.

I put some torn music sheet papers and glued them with decoupage glue on the gessoed canvas.

Then I rubbed a little gesso onto the papers with a sponge.

With modelling paste, with a palette knife and with Tim's Flourish Layering Stencil I made a textured background.

I mixed white and light blue acrylic paint and I covered the canvas with the paints. For this I used a sponge.

It was me who drew an angel body and I cut it out from a handmade paper.

I cut out the parts of the wings from cardstock and book pages then I pasted them together with glue. I rubbed gesso on the top, I mean to the book pages. Later I put glitter glue to the edges.

I glued the angel's body end egg shape head to the canvas and   I put two layers of white acrylic paint on it. 

Then I took Tim's another stencil, the Rays to make the halo for the angel. In this case I didn't use modelling paste just white acrylic paint.

I stamped Tim's butterflies on the right side with StazOn ink (ganache) but please don't use this ink with Tim's clear crackle paint because they don't work together. The ink totally changed its colour when it contacted with the crackle paint, it became pink :-( So it was a mistake what I couldn't solve but it was okay since I made this canvas for my daughter.

I cut out some stars with Tim's Bigz Die (Crescent Moon&Stars).

I put a layer of medium on the wings and on the stars and I sprinkled white glitter powder on the top of them.

And of course I put a layer of crackle paint on the top.

Here, on the surface, you can see fine crackles. For achieving them I used Ranger Clear Rock Candy Crackle Paint (one of the best crackle medium ever).

Oh, I just love the Vintage Lace Die - I very often run it through my Big Shot. I rubbed a little white paint onto the key. This is a key for LIFE.
