Love card with gingerbread man and woman

Hello everyone and happy new year! I'm so happy that I can be the hostess of the first challenge of the Country View Challenges in 2020! The theme I chose is Love but in a larger sense. Next month will be Valentine's Day but I think about those crafters who don't celebrate Valentine's Day, so I welcome in this challenge any projects that you make for your loved ones: husband, wife, mother, father, sister, brother, daughter, son, dog, cat etc. But if you love your job, your life or your hobby that's okay too. I just want to see on your projects that you really love that thing or that special someone.

My first creation is a quite traditional love card with a gingerbread man and a woman.

For this card, I used my earlier card as an inspiration.

And here is my tutorial.

The base is a folded kraft paper.

The second layer is a white 200gsm paper.

The third layer is from Tim Holtz 2018 Christmas Paper Stash. I inked the edges of this pattern paper with Walnut Stain Distress ink.

The gingerbread man and woman were cut out from kraft paper twice. Then I glued the pieces together. First I spritzed the figures with Vintage Photo Spray Stain, then with diluted Picket Fence paint but not with a splatter brush because I wanted just tiny splatters, so I used an ordinary brush. Here you can see:

When they were dry, I inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress ink.

With this technique, you can achieve I quite natural effect, your paper gingerbreads can look like real gingerbread cookies.

What I used:

Sizzix Thinlits die, Fresh Baked #1 by Tim Holtz

Sizzix Thinlits die, Fresh Baked #2 by Tim Holtz

Sizzix Thinlits die, Alphanumeric Label by Tim Holtz

Sizzix Bigz die, Village Gingerbread by Tim Holtz - for the pretzel

kraft paper

white cardstock

Idea-Ology Christmas Paper Stash 2018

Ranger Distress ink pads (Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain)

Ranger Distress paint (Picket Fence)

Nuvo Crystal Drops, Simply White - I put this on the pretzel

I hope you like it!!! And if you have a project in the theme of love, please don't hesitate to join our January challenge where you can win a £20 voucher!

  1. Oh that is absolutely adorable - your gingerbread couple are so sweet (oh, look what happened there!). What a heartwarming theme to start the year. I'll definitely be along to play soon. I'm still in Christmas hibernation (don't come out fully until after 12th Night on 6th January!), but am trying to do a bit of catching up with people even so. Happy New Year!
