Shabby chic wooden box with flowers

Hello everybody, here we are, in February! And here is our new challenge at the Country View Challenges: Anything But Cute. For this challenge, I have made a shabby chic floral box.

And here is my tutorial.

1. I took a round wooden box and I painted white the top.

2. When it was dry I sanded.

3. I put another layer of white paint.

4. I stamped the flowers one by one with Ranger Distress Antique Linen.

5. I heat embossed the stamped flowers with white embossing powders. (In this picture below, the left flower is already heat embossed, the right one is just sprinkled with embossing powder.)

6. Then I stamped the texts with the same technique.

7. I started to colour the flowers with watered acrylic paints.

8. After the colouring, I stamped the sentiment with Antique Linen but then I used silver embossing powder.

9. With watered Pebble colour, I filled the are around the flowers.

10. I gently inked the edges with Ranger Archival Potting Soil.

11. The bottom was painted white.

12. After drying I sanded.

13. Put a layer of DecoArt Americana Decor crackle medium.

14. After drying I painted with Mint Julep Green.

15. In the end, I put a layer of silky shine varnish onto the whole surface (top and bottom, inside and outside).

What I used:

Stampers Anonymous, Reflections by Tim Holtz (CMS111)

Stampers Anonymous, Handwritten Sentiments (CMS219)

Ranger Distress ink, Antique Linen

Ranger embossing powders (white, silver)

DecoArt Americana paints (White Wash, Mint Julep Green, Mistletoe, Pebble)

DecoArt Americana Decor crackle medium

I hope you like it! And if you have a project which fits the Anything but cute challenge, please don't hesitate to join! A lucky winner can have a £ 20 voucher!

With my box, I would like to join the challenge of A Vintage Journey: Think Inside or Outside The Box
