Textured birthday tag - 69

I created this tag as my second piece of the October challenge - Add some texture - of the Country View Challenges blog. I have made this tag for my father-in-law who will be 69 in November.

I decoupaged many numbers to the tag to tell my father-in-law that 69 is just one of the numbers... I also printed a text with my DYMO to tell the same: '69 is just a number' with  another spiritual text that the quantum physicists declare too: 'time does not exist'.

The pointed hand shows him to turn the page where he can find the Happy Birthday in Hungarian.

For the Happy Birthday (Boldog születésnapot) sign I used Tim Holtz Alphanumeric Thinlits Die (3/4") - 660056. 

For making this card I cut out a tag with Tim Holtz Movers&Shapers Tag Die 656938 from a chipboard.

First I gessoed, then I used Tim Holtz Clockwork Layering Stencil to make the background. 

When the modelling paste was dry I coloured with blue acrylic paints. I smeared some brown onto the edges.

From an Advent paper napkin I cut out some numbers and  I glued to the tag with decoupage glue.

Lightly I rubbed some gesso to the numbers, after I cut out the 69 with Tim Holtz Movers&Shapers Cargo Stencil Numbers (657841).

After attaching the 69 to the tag I put a layer of Marabu Glitter Liner, then a layer of Ranger Glossy Accents to emphasise it.

And last but not at least I used Tim Holtz Movers&Shapers Magnetic Die, the Pointed Finger (658562).

P.S. If I could make this card again, I would cut out the random numbers with the cargo stencil die too, and I would use their negatives as a stencil to make the background numbers instead of the napkin numbers. That could be prettier, I think. Next time!

Tag with numbers - 73

At the CVC blog the September Challenge is: Numbers. So I had to choose a number. But which number is the best number or at least my number? Of course, 73! This is the year when I was born, and if it's not enough, my husband was born in the same year too. 

Do you know the TV series, The Big Bang Theory? My husband is a big fan of this sitcom and I like it too. One of the characters, Sheldon has an own theory why the 73 is the best number. 73, is the 21st prime number, its mirror 37 is the 12th and its mirror 21 is the product of multiplying. In binary, 73 is a palindrome, 1001001, which backwards is 1001001, exactly the same. 

Simple, isn't it? :-D

Well, here is my tag of 73.

For making this tag, I cut out a tag shape with Tim Holtz Movers&Shapers Tag Die from a chipboard. I gessoed with a sponge both sides.

With Tim Holtz Numbered Stencil and with modelling paste I put some numbers on the tag.

With Ranger Distress In Pad (Tumbled Glass) and with a sponge I coloured the tag, but I put some Tsukineko Memento (Teal Zeal) ink too mainly onto the numbers.

With Ranger Archival Ink (Jet Black) I stamped a calendar and a Life, Love Laugh image.

Then I gessoed the stamped images a little bit.

I glued some printed memorabilia from Tim Holtz Ephemera collections (Emporium).

I cut out the 73 with Brenda Walton Sizzles Die (Antiqua Numbers) and when they were glued on the tag I covered with brown Marabu Glitter Liner.

Three drawers wooden box with owls for boys

This is my second project for the September challenge - NUMBERS - of Country View Challenges. You can also enter with your own number projects and if you are lucky enough you can have a £20 voucher.


This shabby chic wooden box has an older sister in pink I had made for my daughter. But this box was made for one of my nephews and I'm sure I have to make another one for my other nephew as well - avoiding the quarrels between the boys :-)

The basic is a wooden box that I painted white first, after I sanded a little bit, then I put on a very-very light blue layer.

I sanded the edges.

I cut out the owls from a paper napkin and I glued with decoupage glue on the surfaces.

I used Sizzix Sizzlits Wanted Alphabet Die by Tim Holtz to cut out the numbers from a plain brown paper napkin. Generally you have to use one layer of the napkin to glue but now I glued two layers of napkins to achieve darker colour numbers.

In the end I painted Ranger Distress Crackle Paint (Clear Rock Candy).
