Dot painting - a snowman and a Christmas tree picture

In my creative workshop this weekend I was painting with the kids. We have painted a snowman and a Christmas tree picture with acrylic paints and with the rubber end of a pencil. With this technique our paintings were like mosaics, similar to the Australian aboriginal dot painting.

DIY framed Halloween pictures for kids - using Sizzix cutouts

Last weekend I had a creative workshop for kids where one of the tasks was to make a Halloween picture from Sizzix cut outs, with an orange A4 cardstock and with an IKEA frame.

They could choose from many Sizzix die cuts and they could assort them freely.

Here are some versions:

Such a program is ideal at birthday parties or at other children parties since it is not too complicate to make a picture. All the kids have to do is to use their fantasy and glue the papers :-)

Some pictures from my workshop:

Singing paper puppet

I have prepared these puppets with my daughter to sing the "Happy Birthday!" song on my husband's birthday. We have seen this idea on Da Vinci Learning, they have made something similar but ours succeeded much better :-)

What you need for the preparation:

a paper plate
a paper towel tube
a big wooden bead
two brads
a strong rubber band
fishing string
a pair of scissors
acrylic paint or/and pencils, markers

How to make it step by step:

1. Draw the face on the paper plate.

2. Paint the face.

3. Paint the paper tube.

4. If the paint is dry on the face, cut off the unnecessary parts.

5. If the paint is dry on the body cut two line on the two opposite sides.

6. Put two brads at both ends of the mouth line.

7. Put the elastic band, fixing with the brads.

8. Tie the fishing string to a wooden bead. And after let the bead down inside the tube.

9. Tie the other end of the string to the lower part of the elastic band. Cut off the unnecessary part.

10. Pull the bead up and down so you move the mouth.

11. Have fun!

Felt Christmas tree for children

Sapin de Noël en feutrine pour les enfants

This is an easy craft idea for kids just like my felt owl decoration. That's me who cut out the Christmas tree shape from a 3 mm thick felt.

But the kids have to draw the circles on the 1mm thick felt with using the lid of a felt-tip pen (with what else? hahaha) and they have to cut them out and glue them to the tree shape.

And here is my daughter's Christmas tree :-)

Felt owls for children

Chouettes en feutrine pour les enfants

Luckily, nowadays we could invite many children to our home for playdates. Normally I leave my daughter with her friends to play freely. But I thought that it would be a nice, few minutes program for them to make some souvenirs what they could bring home.

So I have bought felt sheets in many colours (3 mm thick for the body and 1 mm thick for the other parts - beak, eyes, wings) and I have decided to cut out owl figures. The children don't have to do anything but choose a design and glue the parts.

They can choose from these types:

and from these:

And here is the tutorial:

1. Print an owl pattern from Internet (I printed two and I mixed them).

2. Cut it out and copy the parts on a paperboard.

3. Draw the parts on the felts.

4. Cut out the forms.

Some extra tip: Put them into a plastic bag separately. Like this the parts won't mix up.

When the children are over here, I just give them a little pouch and a felt glue to make their own owls. The felt owl making is a good program at a birthday party too.
