Christmas elves and red bokeh background

Last year we had a bokeh challenge over at the Country View Challenges so I made a blue bokeh background with Tim Holtz Santa's Helper. I really liked that technique and the card I created. (Here is the link to the last year card).

So this year I decided to make another card with the same technique using Tim's two little elves, the new one and the old one.

For making this card, I had to cut off the ice skates from the shoes of the new elf.

For creating the background, I used almost all the red Distress inks and Distress Oxide inks and the circle stencil that I made myself.

Umbrella man with black and white bokeh background

I made this card as a second inspirational project for our October challenge, called Bokeh. And this month the lovely Sue will be your hostess. 

This time I chose an old but one of my favourite Bigz dies, the Umbrella Man. And I created a black and white bokeh background for him.

And now I show you how I made this bokeh background. 

I took a 300gsm watercolour paper and inked with Hickory Smoke and Black Soot Distress inks. Then, to fix these colours I blended Watering Can and Jet Black Archival ink, but you can use Tim's Archival inks because the Black Soot and the Hickory smoke exist in Archival ink as well.

Then I used a handmade stencil (I cut out circles into a plastic sheet) and sponged Picket Fence ink through the circles.

I smeared more ink through the smaller circles to achieve a nice bokeh effect.

I sprayed my background with a fixative, then I cut out the Umbrella Man from black cardstock and adhered to the card. I also added a text from Tim's sticker book.

Birthday card with a vizsla - yellow bokeh

Our October challenge is bokeh at the Country View Crafts, and because I really enjoyed making bokeh background here is my third card which is not made as an inspirational project for the CVC blog, it was made for fun. 

Oh, and one more thing, for this card, I used my earlier design, a card with the same vizsla in front of a yellow background.

For the background I used Squeezed Lemonade and Mustard Seed Distress inks, I put Mustard Seed to the top and Squeezed Lemonade to the bottom and mixed the colours in the middle.

Then I blended Squeezed Lemonade DOX ink and Picket Fence ink through a stencil with circles. I applied Squeezed Lemonade DOX through the large circle and Picket Fence through the smaller.

The dog and the pockets were stamped on Neenah Solar White Paper and coloured with Copic Sketch markers.

Santa's Helper by Tim Holtz - bokeh background

Our October challenge at the Country View Challenges is Bokeh and I have to tell you frankly that I had to google the word bokeh when I heard that this could be the name our October challenge. I had no idea what it meant! 

After seeing many definitions and many images of bokeh, I have created this:

For this I created a blue background with Ranger Distress inks (Faded Jeans, Chipped Saphire), then I sponged Faded Jeans and Picket Fence Ranger Distress Oxide inks through a handmade stencil. I blended the Faded Jeans DOX through the biggest circle and the Picket Fence though the smaller ones.

I took a quite thick plastique sheet and cut out circles in different sizes with Sizzix Circle dies. 

When it was finished I sprayed it with a fixative.

Then I cut out Santa's Helper from black cardstock and I adhered to my card.
