Vintage Hungarian Christmas cards #106

What I love about this postcard is the textured surface and that all the images are embossed on it. What's more, the star is gilded. Another interesting thing about the card that it was sent to Vienna, but the message was written in French. A lady sent her greetings to her mother.

It was posted in 1912.

Hello everyone, I'm here with my third black and white card that I made last weekend. This time I chose the Christmas caroler lady from the 2021 Vault Series.

Christmas card with Art Impressions stamps

This one will be a short blogpost because I haven't got too much time. But I didn't want to miss the latest challenge of the Art Impressions blog, Holiday cards so I had to show my card here.

For creating this Christmas scene, I used the Art Impressions Christmas Wonder stamp set. I stamped the images with brown hybrid ink on Neenah Solar White Paper. I used masking paper of course, and I coloured the images with Copic Sketch markers.

Art Impressions Merriest stamp

When I saw this stamp at the Art Impressions blog, I knew at once that it was a must for me! But when I realised that this stamp was just available at the Michaels in the US, I was totally disappointed. Bummer, I live in Luxembourg!!! How I could manage it to buy one at the Michaels?!  

But then, the fortune smiled on me and I found an eBay seller who sent this stamp set to me :-)

So here is my merriest card:

I coloured the ladies with Copic Sketch markers but for the background, I used Ranger Distress ink.

Vintage white Victorian carollers

This is my second inspirational piece for the November challenge of the Country View Challenges blog. The theme is: Stencils. So I stencilled snowflakes onto my sheet music cardstock.

The Victorian Carollers are brought back!!! It means that this Bigz die is again available at Sizzix, so I bet, this lovely couple will be very popular this winter. 

Tim also has a new lamp post die, but I used my old one with the old design.

Sepia canvas with Tim Holtz Victorian Carollers

For making this canvas I had an inspiration but instead of using someone else's creation I chose my own one, the canvas with Tim's Umbrella Man. On my sidebar you can see that this canvas is one of my popular posts, a very liked creation here, on my blog and on Pinterest too. 

So here is my new wintry scene which is not black and white like the Umbrella Man Canvas but right now I wanted to create a vintage sepia tone.

Monday Challenge of Simon Says Stamp Blog: Let There Be Snow 

Shabby chic mixed media canvas - a lady and a gentleman

Our wedding anniversary will be on July 7th. This happy occasion inspired me to make this mixed media canvas.

In winter I had seen at Anette Green Tim Holtz's Festive Gent holding a heart in his hand instead of wreath. This gave me the idea to use this gent for my celebration canvas. 

My other favourite is the Lady from the Victorian Carolers what I used so many times.

For making this canvas I took a 18x24 cm (7x9") stretched and primed canvas and I put one layer of gesso on it.

After I cut out the main elements, the gent and the lady.

I cut out the heart with Tim's Love Struck die but I had to cut it smaller with scissors.

I put some torn book paper and music sheet on the canvas and I glued them with gesso on the canvas.

With Tim's stencil I put bubbles into two corners.

Then I stamped nice sentiments with Tim's saying stamps and a StazOn ink pad.

I used a new chalk acrylic paint but I wasn't very happy with this :-( Anyway, I put some greyish green on the left corner, green in the middle and I tried to put a soft pink on the lower right corner. And some brown to the edges. I used sponge to put the paint on the canvas.

When it was dry I put Tim Crackle Paint on some parts.

And of course, I added my favourite lace from Tim.

I painted white the figures, I waited to dry and I put some Tea Dye ink to the edges.

I cut out the branches and flowers from white paper and I added Tea Dye to the edges.

I arranged the elements and after I started to glue them on.

You can see fine crackles on the figures and on the canvas too.

Sizzix - Birthday tag with Tim Holtz's Victorian Caroler (cream with black dots)

My friends birthday is approaching and I asked her what she would like to get from me what I should make for her. And she, instead of saying something specific, just gave me a theme: "Cream colour with black dots and maybe a ribbon..."

First, I wasn't really enthusiastic about the theme, it seemed a real challenge for me... but the card which developed during my crafting process became really nice. I hope you like it too.

For making the card I cut out a tag from chipboard and two from cream coloured cardstock. 

The cream cardstocks were embossed with tiny dots by a Sizzix Embossing Folder.

I coloured the dots with StazOn ink (Ganache).

I covered the chipboard with the cream cardstocks.

I distress the edges with sanding paper.

Then I placed all the elements on the tag and made a hole on the top with Crop-A-Dile Big Bite.

Mixed media canvas with Tim Holtz's caroler

With Ella Fitzgerlad's quote - The only thing better than singing is more singing - I had already made a greeting card for one of my friend. For making that card I used nearly the same elements what I used this time for the canvas.

I used a 20x20 cm canvas, and although it was primed, I put a layer of modelling paste on it.

While it was drying I tore a paper to a size I needed for the music sheet stamp.

I stamped with StazOn ink pad.

After I tapped and rubbed Ranger Distress Stain (Antique Linen) on the paper.

When the modelling paste dried I painted acrylic paint on the canvas: light blue with some white, diluted with some water on the top and chocolate brown to the bottom.

When it was dry I tapped some turquoise to the brown and after a little silver too.

I glued the music sheet to the middle.

Then I cut out the elements: the branch tree, the caroler, the bird, the lamppost...


I painted them.

After I glued the branch tree - what I altered a little bit before - I put Ranger Crackle Accents on it.

The branch looks like this after the crackle accents dried.

I glued the elements step by step.

I put Ranger Glossy Accents to the lamp so it looks like a real glass.

I rubbed Ranger Distress ink (Peacock Feathers) to the edges of the text cutouts.
