At the Country View Challenges the August theme is: HOT SUMMER DAYS.
For this challenge I made a fun image with Tim Holtz Crazy Birds who are spending their holidays on a sandy beach in the hottest days of a very hot country. (Actually I'm spending my holiday in South of France right now.) On the very first day they got sunburned, in fact they became really red. (My hubby sunburned too - on the first day). And of course they are terribly hot! (Yes, the same, but I love it!) So when they have just enough from sun and heat, the Dad says wisely: Darling, son! Next year we will fly to Iceland!
First I stamped the birds on white cardstock and cut out.
For this I used Tim Holtz Bird Crazy Stamp Set (CMS212), Crazy Things Stamp Set (CMS237) and Mini Crazy Bird Crazy and Things (CMS250).
With Ranger Distress Markers I coloured them.
For the little flower on the lady's hat I used Sizzix Sizzlits Die, Tattered Flowers by Tim Holtz.
I made the background with using Ranger Distress Ink Pads (Stormy Sky, Antique Linen, Tumbled Glass). I added the colours with a sponge. In the end I put a thin layer of white acrylic paint to soften the colours and I put glitter liner to the sun and to the line between the sea and the sand part.
For the ball I used a Memory Box die and I coloured with Ranger Distress Markers.
And I put a thin layer of Schmincke Acrylic Medium to the background paper and to the birds for protection.
The words were taken from Tim Holtz Idea-ology ChitChat Stickers except the word Iceland, because it was printed by Dymo Label Maker.
I glued the image with double sided foam adhesive to a burlap panel from Tim Holtz Textured Surfaces.
Happy crafting! And greetings from La Ciotat!
