Round wooden box with crescent moon and stars

Actually it's not just one box but two, because I squeezed out too much paint for my first box so I decided to make another one :-)

Well, I have made these box for the November Challenge of the Country View Challenges blog. The theme is STARS which was chosen by my lovely teamie, Rachel.

So first I wanted to upcycle a Tesco Camembert cheese box but as I told you in the end I made another, a little bigger wooden box.

I put two layers of gesso to the top of the cheese box but the other parts were painted directly to dark blue, to a nearly blackish blue. It was Schmincke Indigo Blue but I can recommend you the DecoArt Americana Navy Blue which has nearly the same tone.

Then I adhered a tissue paper (for me it was one layer of a paper napkin) with decoupage glue with creating many-many wrinkles.

After drying I painted the top blue again then glued the Sizzix cut-outs on. For this I used the Sizzix Bigz Die, Crescent Moon and Stars by Tim Holtz.

I painted a basic coat of silver paint to the stars and moon with Scmincke acrylic paint but I finished with two coats of DecoArt Americana White Pearl.

In the end I watered a tiny bit of White Pearl paint and smeared onto the surface of the top.

And now here are the differences between the two boxes. For the cheese box I inked the edges of the silver cut-outs with Ranger Distress Walnut Stain.

To the second box I adhered some rhinestones and put a little glitter to the top of the cut-outs.
