Crackled wooden box with Tim Holtz Lady Rose

It's already March and we have a new challenge over at the Country View Challenges blog. The theme is: Be inspired by Tim Holtz and the hostess of this theme is my lovely teamie, Christine.

For this theme I have brought you a crackled wooden box with Tim Holtz Lady Rose.

When I was making one of my Valentine's Day card with Lady Rose I stamped her image onto an oval shaped cardstock. So I was thinking that it might look good on an oval shaped box as well. And yes, I was right :-)

I painted brown the whole box outside and inside, the lid and the bottom as well with DecoArt Americana Burnt Umber.

When it was totally dry I sand it with a soft sandpaper everywhere (inside-outside, top-bottom). Then I put a layer of DecoArt Americana Chalky Finish crackle medium onto the outside of the bottom.

And I painted white the top. I had to put two coats.

Then I stamped the Lady Rose without any acrylic bloc, just the stamp itself. I pressed it thoroughly everywhere. I used Ranger Distress Vintage Photo ink and then came the embossing powder and the heating procedure.

Ooupss, you can see there is some unwanted ink on the face of Lady Rose. But no problem, I could sand that part and I put a tiny white paint there.

Then I started to stamp the roses from the same stamp set around the Lady. I put roses onto the side too.

I coloured the Lady's hair and then with a sponge I added some watered brown here and there, but mostly to the edges.

When crackle medium was dry I painted blue the bottom with DecoArt Americana Winter Blue.

In the end I put a layer of matte varnish everywhere (inside-outside, top-bottom).

What I used:

poplar box

DecoArt Americana paints (Burnt Umber, Washed White, Winter Blue)

Stampers Anonymous, Lady Rose by Tim Holtz (CMS255)

DecoArt Americana Decor, Crackle Medium

Ranger Distress ink pad, Vintage Photo

Ranger embossing powder, Clear
