Vintage Cote D'Azur poster by me

I love the Cote D'Azur! I love the sea, the forever blue sky (without any cloud on the horizon), the hot weather with cooling wind from the sea, I love the French culture, food, wine etc. Every year when I was somewhere on the Riviera I bumped into the vintage Cote D'Azur posters advertising this area for the tourists in the early 1900s. Most of them were made by very famous painters and illustrators like Picasso, Hervé Baille,  Jean-Gabriel Domergue...

But unfortunately this year we can't go there during the summer, instead we will stay long in Hungary because our family is there, because my daughter prefers the Balaton to the Cote D'Azur and because I have a lot of things to arrange there.

But I will miss this region so I prepared a canvas (18x24cm) in the style of those vintage posters.

I will show you some posters which inspired me but on my Pinterest board you can find more:

Like on the posters I used bold colours and strong contours. Although I had a primed canvas I put one layer of gesso on it.

For the background I used the following DecoArt Americana colours: Buttermilk, Desert Turquoise, Whispering Turquoise.

The palm trees were coloured by Light Cinnamon and Mistletoe.

The sun was stencilled and I used Pineapple.

For my project Tim's new Alphabet die with its Art Deco letters was just perfect for my project, also it was better to make with cutouts than stamps.

What I used:

DecoArt Americana paints

With my canvas I would like to join the following challenges:

- Monday Challenge of the Simon Says Stamp blog: Stencil It!

- Stamps and Stencils blog Words with Meaning because Cote D'Azur means a lot to me

And because of the art deco feel I would like to join the Canvas challenge of A Vintage Journey.

I hope you like it! Happy crafting!
