Masculine birthday card with a robot

It's already March and we have a new challenge at the Country View Challenges, called Number and/or Letters. So I decided to show you a birthday card that I made for my dad who became 70 years old on February 22.

I took a 300 gsm watercolour paper and with a brayer, I applied white (White Wash) and grey acrylic paints (Dove Grey, Grey Sky) to the surface.

When it was dry, I glued numbers onto the surface as a repeating pattern.

I also added some design tape pieces (Butterfly) and since I found the numbers and the design tape too harsh, I toned them back with a little grey paint. I also inked the edges of the card with Vintage Photo.

From different colour papers, I cut out the pieces of the robot and assembled them.

For the text, I used the Crazy Talk stamp set and stamped with Ranger Archival ink (Jet Black).

What I used:

Sizzix Thinlits die, Robotic by Tim Holtz

Sizzix Thinlits die, Gearheads by Tim Holtz

Sizzix Thinlits die, Alphanumeric (3/4") by Tim Holtz

Stampers Anonymous, Crazy Talk by Tim Holtz

Idea-Ology, Design Tape (Butterfly)

Ranger, Multi Medium (Matte)

Raner Distress ink (Vintage Photo)

Ranger Archival ink (Jet Black)

DecoArt Americana paints (White Wash, Dove Grey, Grey Sky)

If you have a project with numbers or letters (or both), please don't hesitate to join our March challenge where you can win a £20 voucher.

With my card, I would like to join the:

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Vintage/Past times - because the recipient of this card is quite vintage :-)
